Celebrate the Bank Holiday and carnival weekend with a special night of cocktails and live music, brought to you by Eminente Rum.

Comprising piano player / songwriter DOM PIPKIn, band leader and drummer BUBU OTIS, and bass player Mao Yamada, Jazz Caribe is the result of what happens when you mash the piano world of Monty Alexander and Dr John into the Studio One world of Reggae and Ska.  Pipkin, described as “on of the world’s greatest exponents of New Orleans piano” by Blues in Britain magazine has been lucky enough to work with this roots-based rhythm section for two decades now, and is particularly known for his lengthy improvisatory excursions on the one drop tip with Bubu, with residencies at London’s Nightjar and Darby’s groups allowing this musical synergy to mature.  

Plus, all three are pretty out there!  Are there rules? Should Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five be played in the reggae style? Should Prince Buster be mashed up with the artist Prince?  Was the Willie Wonka song ever meant to be quite that Jamaican?  As well as surprise covers, expect material from Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Alton Ellis.
