Each Thursday after 11pm, we’re switching it up at Nightjar. Firstly there will be a free, late set of live music from 11.30 pm. But, better than that, thanks to Don Julio, we’re going to drink like it’s 2010! Our special late-night menu is a nod to the days (and prices!) of when Nightjar first opened, fifteen years ago.
Pete Ellison and Pete Saunders share more than a first name. They both love the sound of vintage R’n’B and jazz – the sound that filled the smokey bars of Soho in its heyday. Together they weave blue note magic.
Pete Ellison (Vocals and guitar) has played in various bands over the years, including twenty years with The Untouchables, one of London’s premier blues bands and culminating in The Four Flames, his latest project with Pete Saunders, Pete Pritchard and Eddie ‘The Legend (and not Pete)’ Buckland.
Pete Saunders (keyboards and vocals) is also a seasoned musician, having played in Dexy’s Midnight Runners amongst others. He currentlywows cabaret audiences as part of Blues and Burlesque (I’ll leave you to guess which part).
If you like the sound of the small jazz/ R’n’B bands of the 40s and 50s, you’ll love Saunders-Ellison. You’ll hear songs from the repertoire of Johnny Moore and the 3 Blazers alongside Mose Allison and Memphis
