Fresh from her debut at Celtic Connections with her all female band The Traveling Janes, Ali brings her vibrant swinging jazz and bawdy blues tonight with her tRAVELLING jANES qUARTET
Returning to Nightjar for one unforgettable night, this all-female international supergroup brings the spirit of New Orleans and Harlem to life with vibrant 1920s and 30s jazz, blues, and swing. Featuring four members of the Traveling Janes- the group is led by Ali Affleck on vocals/ percussion Katie Cavera on banjo and guitar, Emily Asher on trombone, and Lauryn Gould on soprano and alto saxes. Completing the line-up is the evening’s “token boy,” Richard Pite on bass.
Ali won the award of ‘Best Jazz Vocalist’ in the 2014 Scottish Jazz Awards, and that same year she was nominated as 'Best Emerging artist ' and for the 'Best Jazz Album'.
